Cool Characters and Cartoon Strips

If you have teenagers, they’ll love this website. Actually, you might like it as well. I certainly had some fun evenings playing around with Stripgenerator.
Stripgenerator is a comic making community. It is totally different to the Toon Doos site I was telling you about some weeks ago. I think it would appeal a lot to teenagers and adults, probably much more so than the other site.
There are a number of pre-made characters. Could they be described as cool?
and items…
that can be inserted into frames with text.
Or you can make your own characters and items by combining the different elements.

At first sight, it all looks very simple. You can make a cartoon in a matter of a few minutes.
But when I looked at some of the cartoons made by members of the community, I was fascinated by the complex and artistic results. I kept thinking… How did they make that character? How did they make that item? How did they get that effect?  How did they make that colour when all the elements are black and white? How did they do that?
I watched some of the video tutorials, and couldn’t wait to experiment. I love a challenge and I enjoyed learning some of the techniques of putting together an effective strip. I didn’t watch all the videos. I still have a lot to learn.
You can use Stripgenerator for free without even signing up. But if you create an account, you can save your cartoons, and the characters and items you construct. You can share your strips publicly or privately or just keep them to yourself.
Stripgenerator is enjoyable. It is challenging. Some people also describe it as educational. I just think it’s fun.

  1. You always seem to find interesting stuff! It looks a bit more sociable than hand drawing on your own and pretty impressive, too!

    God bless, Sue:-)

    • Vicky,

I love browsing the Internet looking for interesting sites and information. What did we do before the Internet?

Stripgenerator cartoons are impressive… and good if you have no artistic skill like me. They don't compare with your cartoons though. The other element you have and I don't is a cartoon sense of humour. It doesn't matter how good looking a cartoon is, it has to be built upon a funny story or thought. I'm afraid I can't come up with good cartoon ideas.

I bet Adam and Cameron would enjoy Stripgenerator. I really did see a quote where this cartoon generator was described as 'educational'.
