Do You Know Who You Are?
Do you know who you are?
That might seem like a silly question. We’ve lived with ourselves for years. Surely we know ourselves better than anyone else in the world? But just recently, I’ve been wondering if there are things about myself that I haven’t been able to see.
One thing that has occurred to me is that I’m a perfectionist. It really is quite obvious when I think about it. It’s the reason that I have notebooks full of ideas that never get published as blog posts. It takes me forever to get my words into a state where I feel happy to share them. And even after I do hit ‘publish’, I often return to a post to change a word here and there because I feel dissatisfied with what I’ve written. Sometimes I even return blog posts to draft form because I decide they’re not worth sharing after all. Being a perfectionist is a big nuisance. Imagine if I were happy to jot down my latest thoughts and then publish them immediately. My blogging life would be a whole lot easier.
I talk about being a perfectionist and lots more in this week’s podcast, episode 90:
Is it important we know who we are?
Is our self-image affected by other people’s opinions and expectations?
Why didn’t I fulfil my early gold star potential?
How can we help our kids become who they are meant to be?
Why did my daughter Sophie laugh when I told her the results of an IQ test I took?
What did our Authorised Person from the education department think of my Evernote homeschool records when she came for a recent registration visit?
Does my family have a secret identity?
What’s my latest big project? Will you want to be involved?
Will there be an episode 91?
I hope you’ll join me as I talk about these questions and lots more including giftedness, Evernote, and homeschool record-keeping!
