How did you get on with my last post? Did you try making an Evernote planner? If so, did you customise it? Did you add some icons or images? Perhaps you experimented with colours and fonts.
I’ve been enjoying making some Evernote personal planners. I’ve been exploring icon websites. I even worked out how to make a few icons of my own. Yes, I’ve been learning new things. And my Evernote templates notebook is filling up. Now all I need to do is use one the planners. If I do this, 2018 could be a very productive year!
Why make an Evernote planner? Why spend time creating one? Surely buying a planner is easier? This is true, but you’ll have a lot of fun playing around with Evernote. It’s good to be creative! And once you’ve made a template, you can copy it over and over again. And unlike a bought paper planner, you can access your Evernote one from all your devices. You can keep it on your phone in your pocket. It can be looked at or added to while you’re out and about. Lastly, you can save or print your monthly planners. They’ll become an attractive source of memories.
If you’d like to customise a template but don’t want to go to the trouble of making a basic one, you could share mine. Click on the image below and then follow the instructions to save it to your Evernote templates notebook.
Once you have a basic template, all you need to do is add a header image, change the fonts, and add some numbers or number icons for the days of the month.
For my template, I added an image of an inspirational quote. I used the Alfa Slab One font. And I made and used a set of number icons.

Adding other icons to your planner may seem time-consuming, but if you collect a file of them on your computer, it will only take you a couple of seconds to add each one. It’s quicker than drawing a picture! I found my icons on the website Flaticon.

I have signed up for evernote because reading your posts and listening to your podcast has made me curious. Being curious is good But evernote is quite frustrating to me. I cannot quite figure it out. It makes no sense to me. Honestly, I think it is mostly me. I am not used to using a note app. I am really a “not teach savvy” person. I am one of the few people it seems still living without a phone. I have never owned an ipod or anything like that. I still listen to CD’s and even better, vinyl. I thought that evernote might be pretty easy to use and maybe it is, but it just is not designed for the way I think. So to me it makes no sense and is quite confusing. Any tips on how to start? In the “For dummies” style? 🙂 Thank you so much.

Yes, Evernote might look complicated at first, but when you’ve learnt the basics, I’m sure you’ll find it quick and easy to create notebooks and add notes.

All you need to know to begin using Evernote is how to create a notebook and add notes to it. You’ll need the Evernote clipper if you want to add articles, bookmarks etc from the Internet. See the Evernote website for how to download this extension. Everything else can be learnt as you go.
Are you using the desktop or the online or the mobile version of Evernote? They all look a bit different but are basically the same. If you have any specific questions, please ask. I’ll try and help!
